Encountering Freyja

I wrote this meditation in May 2022. Originally, I only shared it on Mastodon, and it was well received by my tiny audience over there. I caught myself thinking: "Maybe this meditation deserves to be shared more widely? And maybe making more guided meditations for a pagan/heathen audience could be worth it?" Because I haven't come across many myself, and I feel an itch for that, especially for guided meditations that are inclusive of queerness. In the despair, fear and grief I have recently seen among many of the people I love (not just, but especially non-white, queer, neurodivergent and disabled people), it also felt necessary to do what I can to provide a moment of reprieve and regeneration, however small and fleeting. The reminder that there is still beauty and love in the world feels more necessary than ever. This recording features only my voice, no music, no effects. It is a guided journey to encounter Freyja. The journey includes a short relaxation at the beginning, the journey along the World Tree and travelling towards Vanaheim. There is a pause of a few minutes towards the end that is intended to leave space for your own exploration. I made an effort to keep strike a balance in my writing between evocative visualization and leaving things open enough for your own imagery. Let me know if this format is something you enjoyed, and whether you would like future attempts in this directon to feature music. I personally feel that music can be distracting or determine the direction of my imagination too much, and typical 'meditation music' is too cliché for my taste, so I left it out. (Adding music would also add some work, because of course I would create that music myself.) However, I can't promise to make more of those meditations just yet. I'm in a somewhat unpredictable place in my life, and as usual, I have too many commitments going on. The first thing in terms of guided meditations that I would attempt is probably a German translation of this guided journey.
