Encrochat Hack Exposes Cocaine Kingpins | Belfast News

The north coast’s biggest cocaine kingpins, Mark Dunford and Phil Shackels, are off the streets after a massive takedown fueled by a shocking hack of the encrypted criminal phone network Encrochat. Once thought unbreakable, this “private hotline” for organized crime was cracked by law enforcement, exposing their innermost plans through messages they believed were secure. Despite Dunford’s surprising background—grammar school grad and gym owner—their downfall proves no tech fortress is impenetrable. This breakthrough has already led to dozens of arrests and convictions, sending a chilling message: even the most sophisticated criminals can’t escape justice when authorities get smarter.
