In the first part of these podcasts, Professor Keri Thomas, National Clinical lead for the GSF Centre for End of Life Care, and Dame Clare Marx, former RCS President, discuss some of the issues with operating on patients nearing the end of their lives, and consider some of the ethical dilemmas. In the second part, Professor Keri Thomas and Dame Clare Marx are joined by Miss Sue Hill, Vice-president of the RCS and Katerina Sarafidou, Head of Standards at the RCS, to discuss what can be done practically to support patients and their families in these complex decisions, and to explore who is best placed, and when, to have these life-and-death conversations.
