Endgame | The King in His Splendor
from Resurrection City Church - St. Paul Minnesota · host Resurrection City Church
The crucifixion narrative in the book of John is just that: a narrative. Which means that it conveys the significance of the death of Jesus through details implanted in a story. In this sermon, Pastor Joel gives three details that offer significance to Jesus’s death: (1) That Jesus defeats his enemy by shedding his own blood, not theirs (2) That Jesus remains faithful while his disciple Peter (representing us) is faithless (3) That we see both God and man at work in the story, both working towards their own ends When we put these three clues together, we see what John wants us to know about the death of the Word of God. Hint: it is good news for ears weary of their own mistakes and beaten down by the world’s bullies.
