#EndSARS Protests

from African Dialogue · host Channel Africa

Time to go to what’s happening on the continent and today we zoom into Nigeria where the #endSARS protests are continuing. Protests took a turn for the worse late on Tuesday when soldiers reportedly opened fire and killed protesters in Lagos’s Lekki district after the government announced that there would be a curfew. Human rights organisation Amnesty International said it was investigating “credible but disturbing evidence” of the excessive use of force and found at least 12 protesters had died. Meanwhile in South Africa, protests in front of the Nigerian High Commission in Pretoria were held in solidarity with the #EndSARS protests back home. We are now joined on the line all the way from Abuja Nigeria by Isa Sanusi who is Amnesty International’s Media Manager
