The Energy Minister is hailing the contribution of Ardnacrusha Power Station to Ireland's economy and says it's still a "very important part" of the energy network. Ardnacrusha was Ireland's first hydroelectric station and remains its largest river hydro scheme. Minister O'Brien has been telling Clare FM's Seán Lyons it's a success story that can be learned from as the country moves towards renewables.
