The Energy Minister claims the proposed liquefied natural gas storage unit in Clare "couldn't be more democratic". The Government has faced criticism over the planned strategic gas emergency reserve in Cahiracon near Kildysart after just two hours were set aside to debate the bill seeking to progress the project in the Dáil this week. Friends of the Earth Ireland has accused the Government of "attempting to undermine democracy" with the move. Speaking in Ardnacrusha, Fianna Fáil Minister for Climate, Energy and the Environment Darragh O'Brien says he believes it's in Ireland's best interest.
