Engaging the Foster Care Need in America // March 22, 2022

from Mid-South Viewpoint // Bott Radio Network · host Byron Tyler Radio

Every child belongs in a safe and loving family. But right now, the child welfare system – the federal, state and county government agencies charged with this responsibility – has been stretched beyond its expertise and capacity. The failures of the child welfare system are at the root of some our nation’s biggest challenges. As many as 70 percent of youth in the juvenile justice system have been in the child welfare system. One-third of homeless young adults were previously in foster care. Bishop Vincent E. Matthews, Jr., of Tabernacle Church of God In Christ, Southaven, MS discusses the church engaging foster care and provides details of a community movement of churches caring for kids.
