HO Feng-Shan was Chinese diplomat who served in Consulate General of Republic of China in Vienna Austria in 1939. He was the Consul General, together with his consular officer Mr. Chou Chi-Sian Vice Consul, issue 2000-5000 visas to Austrian Jews who seek to move abroad from the persecution of Nazi Germany. Those Jews who got visa from ROC's Consulate General in Vienna travel to Shanghai, Palestine, north america etc. The rest of Jews were sent to concentration camp for final elimination and perished. Ho Feng-Shan issued so many visa because ROC government Foreign Ministry ask them to do it easy and open to all Jews who wish to apply it. It will be a mistake to think that Ho Feng-Shan issue those visa against the instruction of it's own government. As a consular officer, the vice-consul Chou Chi-sian must issue much bigger amount of visa to Jews than the head of mission did there. However no one know and recognize his contribution. After WW2, Ho keeps serving in ROC's MOFA and served as ambassador to Egypt, Mexico, Bolivia and Columbia. At his last job, his staff accused him of Corruption. MOFA sent an investigator to Columbia and found most of the claims are real. MOFA took his position, ask him to come back to Taiwan for trail. Ho refused and move to San Francisco in 1973, lived there until he passed away in 1997. -- Hosting provided by SoundOn
