Vijay PRASHAD is an Indian historian, author, journalist, political commentator, and Marxist intellectual. He is the executive-director of Tricontinental: Institute for Social Research, Editor of LeftWord Books, Chief Correspondent at Globetrotter, and a senior non-resident fellow at Chongyang Institute for Financial Studies, Renmin University of China. He has written more than 20 books, including "The Darker Nations" and "The Poorer Nations". His latest books are "Washington Bullets" (2020), preface by Evo Morales, "Struggle Makes Us Human: Learning from Movements for Socialism" (2022) and "The Withdrawal: Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, and the Fragility of U.S. Power", written with Noam Chomsky et foreword by Angela Davis. In this interview conducted in Paris for Café Marxiste, Vijay PRASHAD talks about his activities, his work, the history of anti-colonial and anti-imperialist struggles, the current geopolitical situation and the new mood in the countries of the Global South.
