All right, we're jumping into the pre-series again. Man, we just might go on forever with the pre-series. It's so good. We've been talking about how we're all called as priests of the Lord.
And it's not the Catholic priest type. It's like the priest, like the Old Testament, had special access to God, is that right? And so we're called as a people, as worshipers, but also as intercessors. And God has given us this call of intercession.
And intercession means coming to the Lord on behalf of someone else. And it's really a simple way to say it, it's praying for someone else. And so what we're doing is we're talking the next two weeks about enjoyable prayer. How many of you know that prayer has a bad rap depending on what church you grow up at, right?
Boring, boring, boring. That's what people most of the time think when they think prayer is they think boring and somebody praying for 10 minutes before service. And that brother Johnny just keeps on praying, right? Have you ever been in a prayer meeting with someone that prayed and you looked at the timer?
It was like three minutes in and you're like, I wonder how long he's gonna go and you start guessing? I've actually done that before. Is that just me? Okay.
All right. But I think that a lot of, for the church, many of us, we don't pray because we either have lack of confidence or we have lack of faith. And the lack of confidence comes from, I don't know if I'm doing it the right way. And lack of faith comes from this place of, I don't know if I'm praying the right thing or I'm praying the will of God, the desire, meeting the longing of God, right?
And how do I know that? And if you know that you can be confident and pray prayers of faith, prayer gets really exciting and fun. Okay. So what we're gonna do is we're gonna talk about that.
There's two ways that every single person can minister and church leadership, so anybody that's in church leadership, is called to train and equip ministers and the ministers are you. You are a minister and church leadership's role is to train and equip you to do ministry. A lot of times people think that these are the ministers up here, but the Bible says in Ephesians that you're the ministers and we're called to just come up underneath you and figure out how can we empower them, how can we activate them, how can we catalyze them to do ministry? And the two ways that we do ministry as humans is ministering to others, in other words, second commandment, loving others, and then loving God, that's our second ministry.
So you're a minister to people and you're a minister before the Lord. We minister to people by loving people well and representing God to the world. And we minister to God by worshiping him, by obeying him. Ooh, oh.
By obeying him is his love language, that ministers to him. And then lastly, through prayer. And what's powerful about prayer is it kind of kills two birds with one stone, because when you pray for someone else or something else, you're ministering to the heart of God, because he's going, oh, you're tapping into my desire in what I want to do. And at the same time, you're activating this whole movement of God as you pray, then things start shifting into heavenlies and people start getting impacted.
And the second commandment starts taking place. So that's what's so cool about prayer. Prayer and intercession is actually the first and second commandment getting fulfilled as you pray. So it's, but man, we have been in those prayer meetings though, and they have not been fun.
And sometimes when we're by ourselves, we don't even know what to do. And we feel like I should pray, and we feel shame and guilt about I should pray, but I don't even know how or what do I do. And then I start praying in my mind. And then I get distracted and I'm thinking about the Lakers.
And I'm thinking about the T-wills. And if they're ever going to get out of last place, and I hope that they can draft a first round pick, and they can get actually the number one pick, and then we'll have a whole team of number one. You know, and it's like, I was supposed to be praying. That's how you get distracted too.
I know, towns, right? We got Russell and you're like, this is the game changer. This is, but don't even use the name Butler in the house of the Lord. Lord.
I'm just trying to participate, honestly. Okay, go on. He's like, when is it gonna be my turn? Yeah.
Okay, yeah. Okay. How many of you have ever been praying with a group? And you just kind of pray all of these general things.
Like bless Mother Mary and bless Zambia. And then God give us the good president so that this nation doesn't go down the hill, the hole, whatever, oh, everybody's just starting. We're just praying general things. But how many of you know if I went into the Oval Office before the president of the United States?
And I had five minutes of undivided attention before the president. And he said, I'm gonna give you anything you ask. I'm not gonna go into the Oval Office and go, well, bless Grandma Wilma and bless my high school, right? I'm actually coming, I'm gonna come in with specifics and go, this is what I want.
I'm gonna make my request clear and it's gonna be precise, precise. We were at a ministry called Every Home for Christ and we were praying for the nations every single day. There'd be a specific nation that we'd pray for every prayer meeting for. And we were praying for Saudi Arabia.
And what I could have done is I could have prayed for Saudi Arabia and I could have said, Lord, send revival to Saudi Arabia. God, would you encounter people in the streets of Saudi Arabia and Lord, even a youth movement in Saudi Arabia? Would you turn the tide and bring revival? And I could have prayed like that.
And that's like, wow, man, he's very passionate. He's like, he knows God, right? It's like, wow, he's a fiery prayer warrior, right? I don't know, just all these churchy things, okay?
Or I could have paused and I could have said, Holy Spirit, who is on your heart in Saudi Arabia today? And I wait and I listen. And that day when I did that, the Lord showed me, there's four men in Mecca. They were actually the ones that were behind the microphones of calls to prayer in Mecca.
And he said, I want you to pray for them. I said, Holy Spirit, what are you doing in their hearts? What do you wanna do? What have you been doing?
And he said, I've been visiting them with dreams in the night. And what I do is I sit next to the Father in the sun. I sit in between them. And by the power of the Holy Spirit, I'm seated with Christ in heavenly places.
And all of a sudden, I'm filled with faith. And I have confidence that I'm gonna pray in agreement with Holy Spirit. Lord, I thank you for those four men in Mecca. And I declare that they're gonna have dreams and visions of you in the night, dreams of the man in white.
And Lord, I declare that they're gonna be men that will lead a prayer movement unto Yeshua, the king of the Jews, that you're gonna turn what, what the enemy meant for evil. And you're gonna turn it to good. And that you're gonna bring awakening in Saudi Arabia at the heart of the prayer and worship movement of Islam. You're gonna bring forth rivers of living water.
They're gonna spring up in the desert place in one of the most unreached areas in the world. In Jesus name. And all of us, we go, I can believe in that. I can, I can, all of you could lean in and go, yes.
What's coming out of you is like, do it Lord. What is that? It's called faith. Cause we can't believe, maybe I'll speak for myself.
I don't believe that all of Saudi Arabia is gonna get saved, but I can believe for four. And God is calling us to pray prayers of faith that we actually believe. So we're gonna get into some practicals. This is called, we kind of coined this phrase, it's called bull's eye prayers.
It's not, we're not just gonna try to hit the target. We actually wanna hit the bull's eye in intercession. So that's what that's called is bull's eye prayers. Yeah, I think what we're gonna go into some exercises, we'll do this together in a little bit.
What I want you to think about is anytime that you are in a corporate prayer setting. So whether that's in this space or on a Wednesday at the prayer room, or maybe it's in your living room with your friends or at your school, whatever it is, anytime you're praying with other believers. And if someone who's leading that time says, we're gonna pray for the name of topic, let's say our city. And they say, we're gonna pray for our city.
Let's lift our voices and start praying for our city. And usually what happens is we all, you know, okay, and you just start launching some prayers, right? If you're like, has anyone else done this besides me? It's like, okay, God, do this, move in our city, bless our city, and you start like, lobbying up prayers.
And what we wanna call us to is to stop in that moment, don't just throw up prayers that we don't mean, but let's pause so that we can mean what we're actually saying. So we can actually apply our faith to it. It says, according to your faith being unto you, I wanna be a person who believes the things that I'm praying. I want to find what the prayer of faith is for me, because that's what will be honest before God, and it will actually affect things.
Prayer is powerful and effective. So next time you're in a corporate setting, and someone says, pray for your city, let's lift our voices. I want you to not lift your voice, and I want you to pause and mean what you say. And so we're gonna give you two tools on how you can mean what you say, how you can go after a bull's eye prayer.
I can honestly say that I can't even remember the last time it's been more than a decade since I have prayed something that is not a bull's eye prayer. I use this tool every single time I open my mouth in prayer, every time. So I believe in this, and I'm giving you this tool as a gift, and you will enjoy prayer, I promise you. So step one, and Josh already talked about it, so you already know, step one is you're gonna ask God, who, it's very simple.
So we're talking about, we're gonna pray for our city, way too broad, just like he said about Saudi Arabia. I don't have faith even for my own whole city. And if you do, and if that's your prayer of faith, you pray for our whole city to get saved. I love that, I don't.
So I'm gonna go, okay, we're praying for our city, God, Holy Spirit, who are you highlighting? And my favorite way to ask him is, Holy Spirit, where are you already moving? Where are you already working? What are you already up to?
And when I'm going into prayer, I'm not just trying to go around and start fires, right? Like, lobby, like good fires. I'm not trying to just lob up prayers by like starting some fires, I wanna go, God, where is the fire burning already? Where are you already on the move?
Where are you already tending to the soil of someone's heart? I want to partner with you. So prayer is not just me taking my agenda before God, and just praying for that. Prayer is partnership, and prayer is submission, okay?
So I'm coming into prayer, and I'm not just going, here's what I want, I'm going, Holy Spirit, what do you want? Holy Spirit, what are you already doing? Because when I come at prayer, I'm going, I wanna partner with you because I'm seated with you. And I want to come up under your leadership.
You know what's best? You know who's ready for the gospel, whatever it is that we're praying. He already knows where he's working, and so I just wanna add my faith to where he's already on the move, okay? So that's step one, Holy Spirit, who are you highlighting?
Or where are you already at work? Okay, so then I wait, and I just go with the first thing that he brings to mind. So whatever he brings to mind, I go with that. Then I ask a follow-up question.
And my follow-up question is, what are you doing? Or how do you want me to pray? Okay, so Lord, we're praying for our city. I'm just gonna think of an example.
Who are you highlighting? Oh, this just happened the other night, on a Wednesday night. We said, who are you highlighting in our city? And he showed us a picture of boys that were ages like seven to 14.
And we asked him, what are you highlighting? And he showed us, these are black boys in our city. And he is giving them a hope in the future. That's what he showed us.
And we started praying, we were able to go, okay, we see who we're supposed to pray for. Now God, what do you want us to pray? And he said, I'm giving them a hope in the future. Okay, and so we came up under his leadership of he's already moving.
And then he started showing us pictures of how he's walking into their rooms. He's encountering them in the night. We even as a whole community, we started saying, I see you walking in the room. In faith, we said, we see you walking into their rooms.
These boys giving them a hope in the future, establishing a hope in their heart from a young age that they have a future that's bright. And so that's an example of how that can play out. So one, Holy Spirit, who are you highlighting and where are you working? And two, how can I partner with you?
How can I pray? What is it that you're actually doing? Okay, so what I want us to do, we're gonna do an exercise where we, that's how we go after a bullseye prayer and actually can mean what we're praying, okay? So we're gonna do that.
We're not even gonna have you get in groups. We're gonna have you each do this on your own. So if you would, let's stand up. It will just help us engage a little bit.
You can get some elbow rooms so you're not right next to the people around you. And just if this is your first time at Grove, or you're like, I don't even know Jesus, what am I doing now? We're so glad you're here. And what we believe as a community is that we don't want to just go to services and then just go about life and not actually live a life that's transformed.
And one of the ways that we can actually do that as a community is we practice doing, well practice obeying God and actually doing the stuff, not just listening but actually doing it. So we're putting an end up just being spectators and we're actually getting activated and practicing. If we're not gonna practice here, we're gonna practice, right? And so that's why we're just jumping in.
So we're all gonna jump in. Okay, first we're gonna go after a topic. Okay, so what we're gonna do is pray for our neighborhood. All right?
How many of you are not passionate about reaching your neighbors? Raise your hand. Raise it high so I can see you. Don't be shy.
Don't be higher, higher. I am not passionate about reaching my neighbors. Look around the room. Okay, same.
Just like where you live neighbors. Like the neighbors in our lives. Yes, okay. How many of you are passionate about reaching your neighbors?
Raise it high so we can see. Okay, we're almost half. I love that. So when we go into prayer, we do not need to actually have passion around something before we pray.
So our emotion, we like to be led by our emotions sometimes, don't we? So one of these areas that we get to just let our emotions submit to Holy Spirit. We're in a corporate setting and also we're praying for something. I don't want to pray for that.
I don't care about that. I think I'm going to check out during this part. I'm just going to invite you that there's a better option for you. So during that time, you get to actually lean in and go, Holy Spirit, I don't care about this at all.
But I know that you do. Your heart burns for this. You live inside of me. I'm just going to come up under your leadership and I'm going to adopt your heart right now, God.
Lord, I thank you. That you've given me my heart and God, I know that right now, even if you give me your heart for this, you're not necessarily going to say, I have to now give my life to that. Because can we all just say sometimes we get afraid? Because if I start praying for that, are you going to make me, am I going to have to do that?
Like, am I going to quit my job and I'm going to become a missionary to reach my neighborhood? Like, I don't want to do that. So I think I'll just check out at this prayer time. No, we can adopt his heart even in a moment, okay?
That, and then we can have unity in a room and we can go somewhere together under his leadership. Okay, so we're going to pray for our neighbors whether we care about reaching them or not. And he's going to give us his heart and what it looks like to reach them. So let's just close our eyes.
We're going to make this super quick. And you're just going to ask him such a simple question. Holy Spirit, where are you already on the move in my neighborhood? Who are you already working on?
Maybe he'll show you a picture of a person, maybe an address number, a picture of a house, maybe it's a neighbor you know, or a picture of a face that you've never seen before. Just go with the first thing that came to mind. Now we're going to ask him a follow-up question. We're going to ask him, what is he doing?
Like, Holy Spirit, what are you already doing there? Holy Spirit, how are you already working? And if nothing comes to mind, you can just ask another question. Holy Spirit, what's going on in their life right now?
Holy Spirit, what do they need right now? Okay, I'm here, I want to hear some examples of what came up. So just shout out at me. What did you feel like Holy Spirit said he was doing or what was needed in this situation?
Just shout out some examples for me. Persistence, for God to move in their hearts. Healing, restoration of marriage, I love that. Say it again, curiosity, I love that.
Understanding identity, freedom from depression, I love that. Now what we get to do is we take those things and we go, okay Lord, who do you want to reveal yourself as? How do you want to work? We want to just take whatever you heard and you turn it into prayer.
I always like to start with just thanking him. Because if he just showed you what he's already doing, I like to start coming into agreement without just thanking him. God, I thank you that you're bringing restoration to their marriage. Even if they don't see that yet, I thank you that that's exactly what you're doing.
You're a restorer, you're a God of covenant. That's just who you are, God reveal yourself as a restoring God, right? So what I want us to do is I just want us to, we're gonna just pray at the same time, I don't even have music for you right now. We'll just lift our voices at the same time.
And I just want you to pray, you're honest prayer. That's your bull's eye prayer of what God just showed you. And you just lift your own voice in faith over the situation he just showed you. So God, that's good, that's good.
Okay, you can sit down, we're gonna do a couple more in a minute. Is this making sense? Yeah. Okay.
Okay, the next thing that builds faith and confidence is praying the Bible. I know that that's a new idea for some of us, but praying the Bible is so fruitful, so fruitful. Because first thing that it does, it gives you confidence because when you read the Bible, you see what God wants to do. And you, like Katie's saying, you come up underneath what he already said that he wants to do.
And so you can be confident as you're reading the word that you get to just agree and fall in line with what he wants to do. And you can have so much confidence as you pray the Bible. Second thing that happens when you pray the Bible is the Bible starts becoming alive. Because as you read the Bible, then all of a sudden you're reading it.
Then you pray it and you start getting all these cool revelations about who God is and what he says about people and what he says about you. And all of a sudden you start seeing these cross references when you get reminded of this verse and that verse. And it just gets fun. It gets just so much more fun when you read the Bible and then you start praying it.
What else does praying the Bible do? I've gotten some notes here. Oh my goodness, it gives us language. Have you ever been put on the spot by someone?
And they're like, hey, could you pray? And you're like, ah ha, yes, yes I can, right? Well, that's surreal. And you're like, I don't know what to pray.
You need language, right? And the Bible is the language that we can use for prayer. And it's great because you actually have something to talk back to God and he's going, oh, I love when you use my word that I wrote through my servants. And you're repeating it back to me.
And I just love hearing your voice pray the word. It just, he enjoys it so much. The early church prayed the word. We see it in Acts 4.
They're praying out of Psalm 2. There's this storyline where some of the disciples were getting tortured and persecuted for their faith. And all of a sudden, their group of friends, they go into their living room and they just start praying from Psalm 2. And they start quoting Psalm 2 that says that the nations are going to rage.
The nations are actually going to rage against the anointed one, Jesus. And they said, consider their threats, Lord, and give us boldness. And they started praying, quoting that passage, and then they kind of expounded on that. And they said, give us boldness.
Give us even more courage. And do you know what happened? After their prayer meeting is over, their whole house started shaking. And there was an earthquake that happened in response to their prayer meeting.
I believe that as a house, it was actually the first prophetic word that was ever given to me when I was in high school was someone came up to me, it was my mentor. And he prophesied over me and he said, you will see Acts 4.31. You will see the house that you were meeting in, shaking because, whoa, hey, down payment right there. I don't know.
The kids are out there. Yeah, the kids are outside. Okay. But the timing of that.
Yeah, that was amazing. That was great. Okay. Felt it.
All right. But what I believe that that's actually going to happen. And even if I'm not in the room, it might happen in your living room. But I believe it's going to happen in our city.
There's just going to be such a movement of prayer, praying churches everywhere. There's this corporate prayer thing. It's going to rest on our city. And all of the sudden, earthquakes don't happen in Minnesota.
But there's going to start being some earthquakes because we've got some friends saying, fill me with boldness. Fill me with courage. Send me out as a labor into the fields. And the Lord is going, oh, I'm going to answer that courage with some shaking.
I'm excited. Let's go. So I want to get practical on how we pray the Bible. So you can turn to Colossians 1.
Colossians 1. I'm just going to model how I pray the Bible. And it's going to look different for you. Okay.
So it doesn't have to sound like me. It doesn't have to look like me at all. You're going to be authentic to yourself as you're praying the Bible. Okay.
So Colossians 1, 9 through 11. This is what we call an apostolic prayer. What that means is there is the apostles, the disciples of Jesus. Another name for them is the apostles.
And as they wrote letters to the early church, they actually wrote prayers in the middle of some of their letters. And there's quite a few apostolic prayers. And so Ephesians 1, Ephesians 3, Philippians 1, Colossians 1, Romans 15, there's all of these passages in the New Testament of the apostles writing out the things that they've been praying for their friends that they're not with, their friends that are in cities that they're away from. Okay.
And so what's happening is Paul here is in Coloss, he's writing to the church of Colossae, and he's praying for his friends in this letter. And he's praying these things. He says, and what I'm going to do as I model this is what you do is you read the verse and you're not in a hurry. You read the verse, then you pray through the verse.
And while you're praying through it, you kind of expound on what you're praying or what you're reading. Okay. And so what I'm going to do is I'm going to read it out loud and then I'm just going to pray through it. And you're going to catch that I'm expounding on what's in the passage.
I'm putting it into my own words. Okay. What I'm going to do is I'm going to pray for Canada. All right.
Praying for Canada. Oh man. Holy Spirit, who's on your heart in Canada? Let's just all ask, and it'll be the first person that says something.
Who's on your heart in Canada? What are you doing right now in Canada, Lord? All right, just shout it out if you've got a person. The president of Canada?
Hey, I don't even know, is there a president? No? Prime Minister? Let's go.
Does anybody know the Prime Minister's name? I just have a, who's ever prayed for Canada before? Whoa. Sorry, do you want the mic?
That's good. Okay. We're praying for the Prime Minister of Canada. Let's go.
I don't know if he's a believer, but that's okay. I doubt he is. All right. He's Catholic.
Hey. All right. Colossians one that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding that you may have a walk worthy of the Lord fully pleasing to him being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God. Lord, I thank you for filling him with the knowledge of your desire, the knowledge of your longing that you would actually open up the windows of heaven and that you would open up your heart and that he would all of a sudden start feeling the longing and the desires of your heart to know him.
Lord, I thank you for giving him wisdom and spiritual understanding that is uncommon. As he's making, as he's the decision maker for so many things, Lord, I just thank you for giving him the spiritual understanding, this uncommon wisdom that's not normal. Lord, I thank you that your destiny for him is that he would walk in a manner worthy of you. And so Lord, we know that that's only possible.
I know it's only possible by being near you, being close to you and intimate with you. So Lord, I thank you for holding his hand, showing him who you actually are. Lord, not just a shell of you, but who you really are in the name of Jesus. And I can continue as I pray through the passage.
But you're kind of seeing how I'm taking it. I'm taking the words and then just praying them out. And then I kind of just expound on those things, right? So what we're going to do is we're going to practice.
Are you guys ready to practice praying the Bible? Okay, let's all stand again. We'll spread out a little bit. So what we're going to do is let's turn in our Bibles to Ephesians 3.
Ephesians 3. And we're going to look at Ephesians 3, 16 through 19. It's another apostolic prayer. Say amen once you're there, Ephesians 3, 16 through 19.
And what we're going to do is we're going to pray for leaders. We're going to pray for leaders. So what I want you to do is ask Holy Spirit, Holy Spirit, who is the leader that you're highlighting for me to pray? Pray for it.
Say it in your own words because that was awful. So who is a leader? Maybe it's a governmental leader. Maybe it's a leader in your workplace, school, maybe a neighborhood, city council leader.
Pray for a leader. Holy Spirit, who's the leader? And then what we're going to do is we're going to pray this passage after we read it. So you read it to yourself and then you just kind of meditate on it.
And then we're going to all pray at the same time. So go ahead, read Ephesians 3, 16 through 19. And then in a little bit, we'll pray together. Do you want to give us a little music for this one?
So we're going to read the passage, just meditate on it. And then in a moment, we'll pray through it. Some of us, I know that this is really uncomfortable to pray out loud. But I want to encourage you to just break off the fear of man.
Just like, we're not afraid of what people think of us, right? So it's okay if you pray out loud because we're all going to do it. So if we all do it boldly, then it's not going to be weird. Okay?
But if we all whisper, thank you so much, pray. Then it's weird and awkward. So stop it. Okay?
So we're just going to be bold. And if there's enough people praying loudly, then nobody's going to hear you if you actually pray. Okay? We're just going to break that on wide open.
All right? Do they have to like yell? No, you don't have to yell. Please don't.
I don't want to hear yelling prayers in this moment. Yeah, just speak up. I'm just giving you a hard time. Just pray out.
You want to pray. If you don't pray loud, that's okay. All right? Okay.
If you're just bold, okay? Yeah. If you're a yeller, you should yell. If you're a yeller, you should yell.
Oh, yell with you. Okay. Here we go. All right.
You activate them. You just get them started. Yeah. Yeah.
Yeah. You ready? No. Are you ready?
Oh, okay. Ready? Yes. Keep praying.
We'll give you like, if you have more, just keep praying. We'll give you a couple more seconds. That's good. That's good.
Do you guys feel how when you pray the word, your spirit resonates in a different way? Like it wakes up. It's like, oh, because maybe because it's living and it's active. So, last, last exercise.
We'll just keep you standing. What I want you to do is actually really spread out because I need to be able to see each other. So even if some of you want to kind of come down a little more towards the front, what we're going to do is we're actually going to pray for someone else we see in the room this time. So I want you to be able to see people.
So maybe you're kind of on the edges. You're kind of turning in. We're kind of getting a little more circular. Yeah.
Those of you that are walking up just join us up here. It's great. If you're up front, you more people will pray for you. Yeah.
So. Yeah. Just I'll just be right here if you want to just pray. Yeah.
That's great. Okay. So, let's just focus on this face where you can pray for them. And what we're going to do is just the exact same thing that we've been doing this whole time, but we're going to put these two exercises together.
So we're going to do bullseye prayers and we're going to pray the word. Okay. So I should have said this. Have your phone or Bible with you because you're going to need to get a passage for this exercise as well.
But this time you guys will find your own passage. We'll talk about that. So what we're going to do, I'll run through it and then we'll walk through it a little more silly. One, we're going to say, who are you highlighting?
Who do you want me to pray for? And in this room? And then you're just going to grab that face. Okay.
So we're going to do that. So we're going to do that. So we're going to do that. Then with whatever word we got for praying over them and what place are you doing in their life, we're then going to find a scripture that connects with that.
Because every time that we're operating in the prophetic or in prayer, we want to pray the word and we want to use the word as our foundation. Okay. So let's say that I'm looking at JP and I'm like, okay, Lord, JP is being highlighted to me. What are you doing in JP's life?
Any highlights peace to me? Okay. So I go, okay, peace. What does that look like?
I want to get a passage. Like maybe I don't know anything else except I just heard the word peace. Okay. So I'm going to go, okay, off the top of my head is there a passage that comes to mind.
If a passage doesn't come to mind, no prop, go to Google and search scriptures about peace. So easy. Every single one of us can do this. Okay.
And I would say more times than not, I'm going on Google and I'm going, okay, scripture is about this because I want to see a list and see which one kind of jumps off the page and grabs my attention because Holy Spirit works that way. It's so simple. Okay. So that's what we're going to do.
We're going to ask him who he's highlighting. Ask him, okay, what are you doing in their life? What do you want? What do you want to do in their life?
Give you something and then you're going to go to Google if a scripture doesn't just come to mind. Then once we have that scripture, we're going to do exactly what we just did. Read that passage. What's the part that's being highlighted to you and then we're going to pray for that person from that place, okay?
Any questions? I'm asking you if there's questions. There's a lot of us here. That's a dangerous thing to do.
Any questions? Okay. Give us that music. That's so funny that this is the music we're using.
Okay. Just dial down a little bit. Holy Spirit. Who are you highlighting?
It's not weird if you accidentally make eye contact with someone. It's prone to happen. That is so funny. It's so awkward.
Who is it? Who are you highlighting? Okay. Now if it's easier, you can close your eyes.
Holy Spirit. What are you doing in their life? What do you want to do in their life? We're just going to be in this for a few minutes.
We're going to give you time. So you're hearing, what does he want to do? And then you're going to start finding a passage, okay? And then I'll let you know when we're all going to pray together.
So you can just be meditating on that, asking him questions. Remember, if you don't hear something or nothing comes to mind, ask him again. Ask him something different. What we're going to do now is we're going to pray.
We're going to pray what we just read. And what we just heard, right? And so we're going to pray the Bible. We're going to pray what God said he's already doing.
And we're just going to expound on what is on the page. Okay? And so what we're going to do is we're going to just like we did earlier, we're going to all pray at the same time. Okay?
Are you guys ready to do that? Okay. Ready, set, go. Lord, we just thank you.
Thank you, Lord. Just a couple more moments. You know, something that can happen as we ask Holy Spirit or we find maybe a passage and there's a story. Like, let's say, Shadrach, me, Shacking a bend to go.
And you're not going to go to that story in the book of Daniel and you're not going to pray through the whole story. It's like a whole chapter long, right? And so what you do instead is you pray the meaning of the passage. You pray the meaning of the story.
So the whole meaning of the story is that they didn't swear allegiance to the leadership of that age, but they swear allegiance to God first. They were going to be God pleasers, not man pleasers. And so what they did is they sacrificed their lives and actually went into the fire and he met them in the fire. And so I just would pray those, like some of those meanings out of the passage.
Okay? So I just want to directly quote the Bible every single time you pray the Bible. Okay? I just want to clarify that.
We are all called to be intercessors. We are all called to know how to pray. And I want to draw your attention to this. Maybe some of you guys are like, man, I already know some of this stuff.
And that's amazing. Tonight was not just about you. Tonight is about the people that you're going to disciple because you're an activate everyday believer. So you're not depending on church programs to disciple your friends.
You're the disciple maker. And now you get to teach people how to pray that don't know how to pray because you know how to pray, right? And so we're trying to make it simple so you can teach them. Okay?
So what I want to do is we're going to commission you guys out. So if you're willing. Just one second. Oh, go ahead.
Okay. Can we, I know a time. I want us to take a risk. I'm like sitting here just like, should we, can we take a risk together as a community?
I think it would be fun to hear what some of you prayed. And so what I'm going to do, I'm not going to just open it. I'm going to, this is funny. I'm going to call on some of our leaders that I know are comfortable to say, yeah, I have something or that you feel comfortable to be like, I didn't have anything.
Okay? And that if I am like, hey, did you get something? You can be like, I didn't. Okay?
And that's not weird. Everyone say that's not weird. That's fine. Okay.
Jason, what do you, do you want to say something? Just stay there. Just talk loud and keep it really short. If you're comfortable to say who, let's say who.
Oh, then that's great. JP. Kayla Tanner. Oh, yeah.
Let him know. Daniel. Okay. Marcus Peterson, you got anything?
You got anything, Jay? No, I'm good. Okay. Let's commission.
I just thought it'd be fun to hear from a couple of you. I just want to thank you guys. Yeah, Lord, we thank you that you have called us as everyday reverence, that you're calling us as those that come before you and minister to your heart. And Lord, we thank you that all of our voices carry weight in the heavenlies.
Lord, I thank you that my voice matters in the throne room of heaven. In the Oval Office of Heaven, Lord, I thank you that my voice carries weight before you. Lord, I just commission out a whole group of people, a whole group of intercessors for our city, for our businesses, for our neighborhoods, for those that are classmates, our co-workers. Lord, I thank you that we are the intercessors, that you're establishing in our city.
We are the part of the praying church that you're raising up in our country. And Lord, we thank you that it's going to result in awakening and revival in Jesus' name. And everybody said amen. Amen.
Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen.
Amen. Amen. Amen. Amen.
Amen. Amen.
