Greetings greetings welcome to a special episode of truth to power. My name is Taris Me night. I am your host and tonight. I want to talk about when enough is enough now I won't stay on here long.
I just want to get some things on my chest about some things I've been seeing about some things That's in a video Especially with a new movie called Harriet that is in movie theaters. I just want to give my thoughts on it now For the longest we as black Americans we have always been looking for positive representations in a video ancestors are near and dear to our heart and To protect them we have ancestors like Malcolm X Like Marcus Garvey, Denmark VC Etc. Martin Luther King. That's another one which brings me to Harriet tell me now But those who don't know but everybody should know this Harriet tell me was an abolitionist that was born into slavery But eventually she escaped and she rescued other enslaved blacks from the heart of slavery But our precious John our precious ancestor.
She was misrepresented as we are who she would be but also we had any type of common sense To misrepresented and it's movie called Harriet and when she was portrayed by Cynthia Revo I sent a revo. She's a British actor by actress ready and Cynthia Revo has said some very disparaging remarks toward black Americans She's called us a kind of for those who don't know that's African for a kid pickle and or nigga, right? So she has said some very disparaging about black Americans, but she's playing a historic black American figure Now they have that not only do they not get the story right? They don't even get the essence of Harriet Tubman correctly The essence of Harriet Tubman you didn't even feel even in a trouble.
You didn't even feel that they got it all wrong I think they had sent their reverb in the movie with some type of Quick weave or some shit and the city's a horrible from the gigo from the hair to the makeup to everything the storyline and everything And this is what they do to try historic figures Now from what from reviews from reading reviews One thing that made me really really really angry and upset is that they said that they basically refrain from showing the harvest of slavery and the violin sickness of the slave masters and the violence of the slave masters, but they had fictional character the role in a fictional character a fictional black male character who didn't exist of course Historic records who didn't exist they wrote him into the script as a violent slave cancer And not only did he kill Janelle Monet's character, but he attempted to kill Harry and her life in the being spared a slave by the white slave master and From the people that see in the movie they can tell me that the same as it end up being like Harriet Tubman's Love interest in the movie. This is crazy. It's crazy. So you're telling me that the people that enslaved you ready to May the League of you read May the League of you to vote We have to day in and day out rape your children Rape to women rape the men came to say you the people who wrote this shit should be ashamed of themselves The same as themselves and the people supporting this bullshit should be ashamed of themselves as well Now and I'm going to say this I was very disappointed when I Saw social media that some of the people that was in my documentary was talking about still support the movie Which makes me want to edit them out the fucking movie I'm a documentary because I can't be associated with another bullshit Now we have a lot of momentum going on right now We got a lot of momentum and you tell the people to go see it to go tell their children to go see it You gotta understand that the child's mind takes images They take images So once you go tell the child to go see a movie About a black man is being violent to everybody But not everybody just black women and then you at the end you have a white savior That has a lesser impact on their child.
They're gonna start thinking oh well. This is a historic movie It's about Harriet tell me one of the people that when our historic figures so This is a story must be true. That's how children are going to take it neither adults We know better and we should we should be so lazy as parents in that teach our children About our ancestors especially the ones that fall back for us This whole movie the whole movie was bullshit from the production from the writing from the actor actress They picked the play Harry. They told a bullshit and they'll never tell you about The oh Start thinking that fall back.
They'll never tell you the truth or about this story that fall back now This movie is flapping at the bus office for those who don't know and rightfully so the movie should have flapped But I don't need a lot of people supporting that shit. We need to stay on one accord We really do need to stay on one accord because the same people that's telling people to go Why is this movie? I guarantee one thing they did not go support birth of a nation with that same energy They didn't keep the same energy with birth of a nation about net turno now People don't oh well, you know for me It was about her and her Christian faith and her believing in God Well, they're gonna believe in God that turn ahead Christian faith But he didn't you use it as a straight and out of weakness and that's something I can respect and that's something I can go see But we got to start controlling our images as black people we got some control not images And we got to start letting people try to infiltrate us with bullshit And we got to stop allowing people within our society within our social circles To try to get the goal along with bullshit. I don't give a damn how respectable they might be or how respectable they might seem We got to stop letting them let us go try to get up the goal on with bullshit But no, it's enough Now let's all I got for you guys tonight.
