Enough with the Strife

Last week, we were able to finish our two-part message titled: Pressing On Toward the Goal. We talked about this “Goal” being Christlikeness. As we press on, we should Be a Good Example as we seek to live the Christ life. We should Recognize Reality, and that is that in the church, some have an Earthly Mindset and others have a Heavenly Mindset. And finally, we should Stand Firm on the Rock that is Jesus Christ. Today, we will see something that has plagued the church from the beginning: Disputes. We will see two prominent members of the Philippian church at odds with each other, and we will see Paul’s instructions for the church to deal with this situation. Our message title for today is Enough with the Strife. Our points for the message will be: Focus on The Main Thing Focus on Peace Focus on The Good Main Scripture: Philippians 4:2-9 Supporting Texts - Philippians 2:3, 1 Thessalonians 5:14, Matthew 14:28-30, 1 Peter 5:7, Romans 5:8, Ephesians 3:20, Romans 11:33, Isaiah 55:8-9, 2 Corinthians 13:11 Diving Deeper. After listening to today's message, consider asking yourself the following questions: What is “The Main Thing” in the context of our message today? Why should we stay focused on “The Main Thing?” Define the Peace that God offers. How is this Peace different than the peace that the world offers? Is it easy for you to focus on bad things? Explain. Why should we focus on the things we see in Philippians 2:8?
