Ruiz received his medical degree from Harvard University and completed his residency in emergency medicine at the University of Pittsburgh and a fellowship in international emergency medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Massachusetts. He worked as an emergency room doctor at Eisenhower Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, Calif., until he was elected to Congress in 2012. Rep.
