Enterprise Tuesday - Pivoting to Success
from CambridgeJBS · host CambridgeJBS
With guest speaker William Tunstall-Pedoe, Artificial Intelligence Entrepreneur - 20 February 2018 William founded Evi (formerly True Knowledge), a Cambridge-based artificial intelligence business. The vision for the business was a world where people can interact with computers just by asking naturally – the computer would understand and give back exactly what they wanted. Founded in 2006 with the core technology and a patent application, the vision has stayed the same, though the business went through multiple pivots to find success, culminating with a voice assistant that became #1 in the Apple app store and then to the creation of Amazon Alexa following acquisition by Amazon in 2012. How brilliant does a product need to be to succeed in a crowded market? How do you remain focussed on your vision through multiple pivots? William will take you through the decade-long story of his business and what he learned along the way. Enterprise Tuesday is 2017/18 is sponsored by Cobra Beer, Deliveroo and DLA Piper, and is managed and delivered by the Cambridge Judge Entrepreneurship Centre.
