Ep. 007 - Emily Shay On Connecting To God Through The Creative Process

from She Rises with Rachel Clare · host Rachel Rhien Tucker

Emily Shay is a mother and artist who has spent the past few years letting the Lord shape her through her artwork. She has learned what it means to truly align her will with God's, to dig deep and feel her feelings, to understand the connection between the conscious and subconscious mind through early-morning journaling, and to embrace gospel symbolism. Emily spent 8 weeks this past summer doing an art residency in nature, completely removed from social media and the digital world. She learned important truths about herself and her relationship to the Divine through focusing on the Savior and painting symbols of Him. Emily has worked closely with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on various projects and is opening a show at the Havenlight Gallery in Orem Utah that will run through the entire month of November (2025). You can find her at emilyshayfineart.com and on Instagram at @emilyshayfineart. You can connect with Rachel on Instagram @simplyrachelclare, or through her website, rachelclare.com.
