EP 023: Jolee Patkai, Singer-Songwriter

Jolee Fern Patkai is from Alliston, PEI. Raised on a dairy farm, near the ocean, and growing up in a musical family, entertaining came naturally to her! After marrying her soulmate, Julius, and raising three sons on a tobacco farm, she took a break from singing until her return to the music scene in 2006.   Her love of the ocean and her Island moved her to write her first song, and she released her debut album “Shore Rhapsody”. For her efforts, she received two Music PEI nominations for Female Vocalist and Country Recording. Her second CD “Going Home” was released in 2013, and she received a nomination for Traditional Roots Recording. She writes most of her own songs, and she has been kept busy performing at soft-seating events, festivals, ceilidhs, benefits and fundraisers. She was honoured to be part of a compilation CD honouring Anne of Green Gables’ 100th Anniversary, where she penned “Ode to Anne” and sang her own rendition of “Anne of Green Gables”. Jolee was chosen to participate in the Country Music Showcase in November of 2013, which was sponsored by CFCY and Music PEI.   Country music is her genre of choice, but she enjoys singing everything! She is currently in a Celtic group called “Treble with Girls”. She performed with a group of talented individuals and presented “Lady Singers of our Century” where she portrayed Loretta Lynn, Crystal Gayle, EmmyLou Harris and Dolly Parton. Currently, she is staging a Tribute Show to Loretta Lynn entitled “The Long Lane Home”! You can also find her singing on Facebook, where she posts videos called “Momma and Me”.
