Ep: 03 Chasing The Power of Laughter with Abe Cox
from For Those Who Know. · host Jeary Sylves
This episode I sit down with Chicago based comic Abe Cox & things get amazingly weird! We travel down the rabbit hole and laugh the entire way through--- discussing everything from his early beginnings as an upstart on ASU's campus, to earning his comedic chops, what it takes to keep his girlfriend happy, who was the first Black President in a movie and learning difficult lessons on Chicago's Southside. We even talk about depression and the darker side of comedy but also the power of laughter, how it connects us all and the role comedy plays in our society. Throughout this episode we drop an insane amount of TV & movie references and we took some time to discuss and unpack Jordan Peele's recent thriller Get Out! *SPOILER ALERT* I even ask Abe what his Top 5 Black comedies were, We're still undecided. So help us out, and tells us yours! Had a lot of fun this episode, plenty of jokes and much needed laughter after a few shitty weeks lol Follow Abe Cox on the socials @Abecox (IG) & @ItsAbeCox (Twitter) As always, let me know your thoughts--- Please rate, review and share!
