We have to be sensitive to each other's preference for privacy.  As leaders or even just co-workers, we have to check up on each other and show a level of empathy to how people are feeling without breaching any boundaries.  If you're not a licensed mental health professional, don't involve yourself more than you should. Instead, help people get the help they need.  If you want to lead effectively, you need to speak the language of the people you're leading   "You can be hard as an executive if you've earned their respect and you inspired people to work at their best.
