當聖經裡提到「默誦」這個字時，所指的不是腦力的激盪。這個字在舊約所用的希伯來文讀作「hagah」，意思是低聲輕念，所以也就是「輕聲誦讀」之意。（當代譯本、中文新譯本都翻譯成誦讀或默誦）注意看神告訴約書亞的是：「這律法書不可離開你的口」，祂並沒有說這律法書不可離開你的思想。因此，默誦或是誦讀神的話，關鍵不在於用腦深思，而在將神話語的應許，用你的口說出來！
