Ep. 09 | Planting Seeds and Trusting the Process

What better way to wrap up 2023 than with two of my favorite people, Scott and Chrysti Burroughs!? We've shared countless hours together strategizing business plans, projects, and life. The amount of laughs in between is endless. They have a fantastic story to share of what it truly means to pursue and persevere through the unexpected. 

Scott “Scooter” Burroughs is a painter, illustrator, designer, and lover of all things mid-century modern. He graduated with his BA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco, California, in 1994. Upon graduation, he worked as a video game animator and conceptual artist for Sega before being hired by Walt Disney Feature Animation. Scooter worked for 10 years for Disney as an animator on movies and mentor for new artists. His credits include Pocahontas, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Mulan, Tarzan, Fantasia 2000, The Emperor’s New Groove, Lilo And Stitch, Brother Bear and several shorts. When the Florida animation studio closed its doors in 2004, he moved back to Colorado and began a career in illustration, fine art painting, and design. To this day, he continues to work with Disney as a fine artist. Chrysti is a wife, mom, business owner, and entrepreneur. She has co-authored several children’s books, including The Christmas Tail of Sampson, The Silly-Looking Sock Monkey, The Super Short, Amazing Story of David & Goliath, and The Super Short, Amazing Story of Daniel in the Lions’ Den.

Scooter and Chrysti are high school sweethearts and have always loved the mid-century modern commercial style from the 40’s through the 70’s. Scooter’s distinct artistic style has been formed by a love and passion for the images from that era. Scooter's fun and playful paintings and illustrations celebrate the style of the past and give life to a modern-day retro style of all the things he loves most. Scooter and Chrysti both have a passion for helping others. They partner with an amazing organization called Acres of Love, whose mission is to rescue and care for children abandoned or orphaned due to AIDS, abuse, extreme poverty, and those with special needs in South Africa. “We get so much joy and excitement in our hearts about changing the world through creativity, hope, and love. We want our collectors to know that whenever you purchase our art, merchandise, or books, a portion is donated to Acres of Love. We love partnering with our AMAZING collectors to bring hope, love, and a family to these children!
