Ep. 1 - Capt. Pete Bethune and Ocean Plastics

from The Conservation Conversation - Season 1 · host Erik E. Crown

This is the debut podcast of The Conservation Conversation.  In our first episode, we discuss Plastics.  How they are in our oceans, our food, and our bodies.  We talk about how companies that make plastics shifted the blame to the consumers through a very famous PSA and campaign.  And Special Guest Captain Pete Bethune of Earthrace Conservation speaks to us from his new ship "The Modoc", as they prepare it for an international campaign to clean ocean plastics and discarded fishing gear around the world. Pete and I traveled together for a few years, and have been in the trenches together in some very remote areas of the world.  It was the first time we got to catch up in a while, and discussed everything from the Japanese resuming their whaling to plastics and how we can all help the environment out.
