EP 1: I'd Be Happier If..

from The Welcoming Way · host Welcoming Way

Welcome to our first Podcast Episode featuring a live Welcoming session! We are happy to start bringing you examples of what it is like to work with us 1:1 or work with us in our live Welcoming Way Community Calls. Our client today brought a topic that we can all relate to: "I'd be happier if…" [fill in the blank]. In her case, she is having the thought that she'd be happier if she lived more simply. As we begin this episode, think of what completes that sentence for you. These thoughts are often on repeat for many of us, and putting a damper on the joy and gratitude that is here too. So follow along as I facilitate our guest. At the end you will hear reflections on what took place from Leah, our guest, and from me. I am always inspired by how someone is willing to ask, even when the problem doesn't feel totally clear or defined. As you will hear, that didn't stop us from going from a sense of longing to a sense of peace, in less than 10 minutes. We discovered two sides of a debate about how to relate to her life, one side longing for a better future and planning how to get there, and one side feeling grateful for life now and not wanting to give it up. The practice that followed is called Holistic Welcoming, and rather than having to choose one or the other, we welcomed both. So any time you find yourself longing for a different reality, you can try welcome wanting life to change, and wanting to not give up what you have now.
