EP 1 TEASER - DR GERALD MAY

from Leaders of Enchantment

Dr. Gerald May joined the civil engineering faculty at the University of New Mexico (UNM) in 1967 and served as dean of the School of Engineering from 1980 to 1986. He then became the 14th president of UNM, serving from 1986 to 1990. Throughout his tenure at UNM, Dr. May had a profound impact on the university and its students.  Dr. May was a pivotal mentor in my own career. As my professor, he advised me to pursue graduate school, a decision that set me on a path to success. His guidance was one of the most significant influences in my life.  In recognition of his lasting contributions, we named the Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering Department in his honor last year. This permanent tribute reflects my deep appreciation for the impact Dr. May has had on me, Doug Campbell, and countless other students over the years. Dr. May is someone I deeply admire and look up to, making him the perfect first guest for our podcast, "Leader of Enchantment."
