Durante il processo però l'atto di accusa si rivela inconsistente, e il malcapitato carrozziere viene assolto. Nel frattempo nella caserma di Arce giunge un nuovo comandante, il maresciallo Evangelista, che, insospettito dal comportamento ambiguo di alcuni dei suoi sottoposti, già in forza nel 2001, riapre le indagini.
