Ep. 10 - Do or Die

Real Madrid’s hopes of defending their La Liga title are high, but it is a “do or die” fixture versus Inter Milan this week that will determine if they will make it out of the UCL group stage. Real Madrid defeated SD Huesca 4-1 this weekend with goals coming from Eden Hazard, Fede Valverde, and a brace by Karim Benzema. The goals will undoubtedly give Los Blancos a much-needed boost in confidence considering they have been struggling to score as of late. Eden Hazard’s mid-range rocket was a welcome sight for many Madridistas. This was the Belgian’s first start since returning from injury and he did not disappoint. Fede Valverde also continues his stellar run of form and bagged both a goal and an assist. Karim Benzema, who is seemingly Real Madrid’s only in form striker, scored a brace and now has 3 goals in 2 games. However, while Real Madrid’s La Liga form has been on the up since their loss against Cádiz, Los Blancos had to claw their way back from 2-0 versus Borussia Mönchengladbach in order to walk away with a 2-2 draw in their midweek UCL fixture. This 2-2 draw against Borussia MG, while admirable, leaves Los Blancos dead last in their UEFA Champions League group. Their upcoming game versus Italy’s Inter Milan is a “do or die” fixture that is likely to determine whether or not Real Madrid has any chance of making it to the competition’s knock-out stages.
