Ep 10...Faith: Letter of the Law vs Spirit of the Law

There are a lot of heated debates in the LDS sphere that just don’t seem to go away; modesty, Word of Wisdom, facial hair… If only we could learn to balance these marvelous contraries…then these debates could be laid to rest.   In this episode we talk about: 1) Letter of the Law -The Lord does not give commandments nilly willy..and I’ve got receipts to back it up -Worshiping the law -Sins ABC are ok because I’m not doing sins XYZ -Thinking too highly of ourselves -Women…be SCRIPTORIANS -Thinking too lowly of ourselves   2) Spirit of the Law -…...”But I’m a good person!” -Careful covenant keepers…versus casual -The gospel is so much more than a routine checklist   3) Go & Do Challenge: -Which side are you…LETTER of the law or SPIRIT of the law -try to lean more the other way   4) Happy Thought: -For you spirit of the law people, being careful with our covenants & keeping the commandments with precision…will bless your life in ways you can’t imagine, I know it’s blessed mine -For you letter of the law folks…Christ’s atonement is meant to fill in the gaps of imperfection for others….and you.   ALSO… 5) The August 2025 Minneapolis Catholic school shooting -immediate rush to defend the killer or the killer’s identity group -disdain for thoughts and prayers and those who pray -the Left's only solution is to ban guns   SOURCES -Proving Contraries https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/s...   -Pres.
