Ep - 10 - The Benefits of Workaway for Digital Nomads W/ Callum Bates
from The NextDay Nomad Podcast
Hola Amigos! In today's episode of The NextDay Nomad Podcast, I interview Callum Bates, a graphic designer and digital nomad, who shares his journey of becoming a nomad and his experiences in the Caribbean. He started his nomadic lifestyle in 2017 after discovering Workaway, a website that connects travelers with hosts who provide accommodation and food in exchange for work. Callum emphasizes the benefits of Workaway, including reducing travel costs and gaining local knowledge. He also discusses the importance of work-life balance and prioritizing experiences over work. Callum highlights Cuba as one of his favorite destinations in the Caribbean due to its history and unique culture. He also mentions Colombia as a fascinating country he would love to explore more. Callum is living his dream life in the Dominican Republic and has no interest in traveling to other parts of the world. The Dominican Republic has become a hub for travel, with daily flights to various destinations, making it more accessible. Callum is also organizing a charity walk called Walk for Education to raise money and awareness for children in the Dominican Republic who cannot afford an education. He feels grateful for being able to live in such a beautiful country, and this is his way of giving back. **** Disclaimer - This walk is now starting in Santo Domingo and finishing at Coco Bongo in Punta Cana. This episode was recorded in June 2024. If this podcast resonates with you, get sneak peeks at new guests, travel tips, and discover powerful mindset shifts to fuel your nomadic adventure.
