Ep. 100: Planet of the Apes (1968) or ‘Analysis of the Dawn of the Franchise of the Planet of the Apes’

Zach assembles the lovely talents of return Ballyhoo-ers Chloe Riggs, Erin Mullane, Tyler Maybe, and Matthew Merback (Podcasters/ Friends) for trip to the Forbidden Zone where their might be a lesson about man's eventual fall and the rise of his simian superiors. That's right, for the 100th episode, this crew will become stranded on, learn from, and unpack the immense legacy of Franklin J. Schaffner's 1968 masterpiece, PLANET OF THE APES. THESE MANIACS... will all settle in to thrill to the adventures of Arthur P. Jacobs and his journey to get the film made, marvel at a time when 20th Century Fox was an actual non-Disney studio, stand in awe of the thematically rich and socially relevant plot, gaze in wonder at the brilliant make-up of John Chambers (not John Goodman), reckon mightily with the harsh truths the film speaks about to the very present, and finally unpack the many ways this films release and impact have affected the works we see today. PLUS: Does Roddy MacDowell not know how to pronounce the French title?
