John Torres joins the PD Flight crew in celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month. John is the Co-founder of Bridgeport Caribe Youth Leaders. After Torres lost his Dad in 2003 to emphysema, John and his brother wanted to do something to honor his memory, from that desire BCYL was created to provide opportunities for the youth of Bridgeport to participate in a baseball league. Over the last 20 years, BCYL has served over 10,000 families in Bridgeport and awarded over $1.5 million dollars in college scholarships. John’s journey to family & youth service’s wasn’t a linear progression, it was influenced by his early experiences with mentors and the values they poured into him that forged the foundation of his character.
