Ep. 106 – Batman Beyond – Revenant & Babel

from The DCAU Review: A DC Comics Animation Podcast · host The DCAU Review

Initially slated to be a single-review episode, Cal & Liam called an audible and decided to bring forth a Giant-Size Double Feature on this week’s DCAU Review, tackling both Batman Beyond episodes “Revenant” and “Babel.” Truly a tale of two episodes as both feature returning villains, the Good Brothers discuss the shortcomings of another Willie Watt centric episode, a lackluster culmination to the final battle between Terry and Willie, an homage to another classic Spider-Man visual and a why one host is happy that this is the last appearance for this villain. Moving on two the second episode our hosts discuss fantastic visuals in Shriek’s return, Batman vs. zoo animals, why this episode feels like the passing of the Bat-mantle, discovering more about the future Batmobile’s capabilities, using traditional Batman-villain tropes in a new effective way, a trilogy of scenes where the voice acting is incredibly powerful and a soundtrack that brings back the classic Batman themes. Plus, the hosts have scorecards for both episodes and an exciting look at next week’s episode and more on this week’s all-new DCAU Review!
