Ep.108 The Pacing Gap: Law Speed Versus AI Speed, and the Crisis of Governance

Artificial Intelligence follows an exponential growth curve, doubling capabilities faster than any technology in history. Law and regulation, however, follow a political, deliberative, and inherently slow curve. This massive disparity—the Pacing Gap—is the central challenge of modern governance, risking catastrophic outcomes if technology outruns accountability (Source 1.1, 4.3).This episode explores the dangerous misalignment between Law Speed and AI Speed:The Exponential Risk: We analyze the critical dangers of slow governance. Overly restrictive or premature "Law Speed" regulation risks stifling beneficial innovation, ceding technological leadership and economic advantage to nations with less restrictive rules (Source 2.3).
