EP 11 - His Name Became Israel

Israel is a name spoken constantly in our time, and too often-out of context. But long before it was a headline, it was given to a man.In Part One of His Name Became Israel, we explore Jacob’s origin story — his birth, his name, and the rivalry that would define him.Why is the future bearer of a divine promise introduced as a heel-grabber?And how does a struggle that begins in the womb shape the destiny of generations?Oh- and what's the deal with the connection to the name Palestine and the Philistines? This is the story before the blessing. Before the wrestling. Before the transformation that would set in place a light to the nations. This is Jacob the Striver.
