Ep. 11: Let's Get Ready to REGISTER.....Voters!

I’m guessing if I ask you what’s happening on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, you’d say: “Tacos are half off at El Salto?” And you would be WRONG, my dear friends. For Tuesday, September 16 is National Voters Registration Day. Now known as “The Frontline of the War to Save American Democracy.” I wish that was hyperbole, folks, but we live too close to Chicago to pretend we don’t know what’s at stake. Now, instead of hearing that and scurrying over to the Polish or Irish embassy website to see if you qualify for dual citizenship (I mean, do that, but also do this…) YOU CAN BE A SOLDIER IN THIS FIGHT. Because — spoiler alert — registering voters is easy, free, and available to ANYONE. Repeat, anyone can register someone to vote. That means you. And if not you, who? And if not now, when? Never fear: we’d never send you out into battle unarmed. I’ve found the absolute perfect person to teach you how to register someone to vote: Michelle Fajman, Director of the Lake County Board of Elections and Vice Chairman of the Lake County Democrat Central Committee. Folks, we are damned lucky to have her in both positions. If you have purple friends still able to listen to reason, I’d suggest sharing this with them. I was dumbfounded by the depths of her expertise on voting issues. And by the lengths to which our county — under her leadership — goes to ensure our elections are secure and fair. If you’re tuning in to learn how to register voters, we start discussing that around 6:30 minutes in. Here are the graphics, too! Here are some important links: Indianavoters.in.gov: Your one-stop-shop for all things voting in Indiana. Register. Check your status. Update your info. Get ballot info and polling places. Federal Voter Registration Form: This works in all 50 states. Pick your favorite of 21 languages (while you still can). Goddamn I miss inclusive politics. :) Rock the Vote: Ideal place to register folks, because these clever clogs got smart and created an entire voting email journey for people who register to vote there, including alerts about voting days and ballot information.
