Starlight Thursdays Episode 110. Featuring a fresh DJ and unique story. A DJ walks into a bar in Oakland CA and randomly sits beside Starlight Reunion founder Winter Ramos. They begin to chat and DJ MacroBoof realizes they have some friends in common like HNNH who he went to high school with and The Fox Den who he’d visit on trips to Montana. Turns out he’s been a listener to this mix series for a while now. So naturally we had to have him on the show. Tell us about your DJ name? MacroBoof? I didn’t choose this name, people in my community in California started calling me that as a parody of my friend DJ Microdose. I can’t really think of anything better, maybe I’ll change the name at some point. How long have you been DJing? 26 months - Just Another Covid DJ Why did you get into it? I had been obsessively making playlists on streaming music services for a few years, and also watching my friends rail huge lines of ketamine and continue playing music on DJ gear as if they were sober, so I decided it couldn’t really be that hard. I was wrong, but it sure is easier than learning to play an instrument. What events have you played? I mostly play friend’s house parties in SLC Where are you from? California. Sorry. What genres are in your mix? I really have no idea honestly, I have a hard time categorizing house music. Let me know in the comments. A few words about your mix? I took the first transition from an accident the night before and just freestyled it from there. I had been frustrated trying for about a week to record a pre-selected set and threw it all out and recorded this on the fly. Who are some of the artists in your mix?
