Ep.111: Superman (2025) Review

In this episode of Sigma Duocast, Rick and Rudy suit up to share their thoughts on James Gunn’s Superman (2025) — and the capes don’t quite align. Rick gives the film a 4/10, while Rudy scores it a solid 6.5/10, sparking an honest, deep-dive discussion filled with sharp insight, bold opinions, and signature banter. Rick offers a fair and open-minded perspective as he contrasts Gunn’s hopeful, idealistic Superman with Zack Snyder’s darker, mythic take. While he respects the creative direction, he explores where the film fell flat for him — from Superman’s vague weaknesses and uneven storytelling to a Lex Luthor portrayal that left much to be desired. Rudy balances the discussion by pointing out the film’s strengths — its charm, tone, and attempts at world-building — while also acknowledging its shortcomings. The result is a thoughtful, passionate, and often humorous conversation that digs into the heart of what makes Superman work (or not) in a new cinematic era. Tune in for hot takes, honest dialogue, and plenty of moments that’ll make you think twice before putting on that cape.
