Lele Akalu immigrated to the United States from Ethiopia at the age of 14 to pursue higher education. After three years of nursing school, she realized that nursing wasn't her passion and did a 180 career change to pursue the arts. She is currently working on the animated series - DISENCHANTMENT on Netflix. Lele was aiming for an unmedicated hospital birth but had her doubts about whether or not she would be able to do it. She shares her pregnancy and birth story and talks about creating a village for her child and how raising children in America is different from Ethiopia.
