Beloved by God: Relational Security in Jesus | Ep 120
from Soil and Roots · host Brian Fisher
What does it mean to be beloved by God?In Episode 120, Brian continues Season 6, The Object of Our Formation, by exploring the lived reality underneath Jesus’ relational security: belovedness. Jesus was not anxious, defensive, manipulated, or controlled by other people’s opinions because He lived from a deep, abiding attachment to the Father. He knew who He was. He knew whose He was. He lived as the beloved Son.But what about us?This episode asks what it would mean for followers of Jesus to experience belovedness not merely as a doctrine, but as a reality that settles into the heart. Many of us intellectually believe we are God’s children, yet our thoughts, emotions, anxiety, anger, loneliness, fear, and relational patterns reveal that our hearts may not yet fully rest in that truth.Brian explores adoption, trust, self-worth, self-efficacy, secure attachment, identity, and the slow process by which our hearts learn to live in God’s family. He also applies relational security to our relationships with ourselves, others, creation, and culture.Being beloved by God does not make us passive, weak, or doormats. Jesus was secure, but He was not controlled by others. He loved with compassion and boundaries, patience and wisdom, gentleness and strength. As we become more like Him, we learn to seek goodness without losing ourselves, to love others without enabling harm, and to participate in the world from a secure identity in the Father’s love.Join us online!
