Ep.121 Edie Baker - Ministry of Arts Podcast

from Ministry of Arts Podcast

In this episode Gary Mansfield speaks to Edie Baker (@Ediebakerart)   Specialising in collage, contemporary artist Edie Baker creates new narratives from predominantly ephemeral images sourced from magazines, books or those discarded on the street.   Larger works are created by digitally printing previously treated images onto stretched canvasses which are then embellished with shapes, patterns and forms that enhance or detract from certain areas of the original.   Content is often brutally cut or edited, resulting in final pieces that speak more of what is absent, rather than that which is present. This treatment leads to work that is sometimes awkward, sometimes humorous, sometimes provocative but almost always surreal.     For more information on the work of Edie Baker go to https://www.ediebaker.co.uk/   To Support this podcast from as little as £3 per month: www.patreon/ministryofarts   For full line up of confirmed artists go to https://www.ministryofarts.org Email: [email protected] Social Media: @ministryofartsorg   Hosted on Acast.
