Cleveland Browns head coach Todd Monken named Deshaun Watson starting quarterback over Shedeur Sanders on Monday morning, but he cannot survive that press conference. Saturday, Watson went five of 12 against Buffalo, then told Cleveland the boos were personal. He joked about 17 away games and named his wife his person of peace. Browns owner Jimmy Haslam saw all of that and still doubled down on his mistake over Deion Sanders’s son. Monken also understands this could be his one-and-only opportunity to be a head coach in the NFL, and starting Shedeur would waste his chance.
