Ep 123: Balancing empathy with command skills.

Have you ever walked into a chaotic environment and seen someone who seems to be unaffected by the chaos. He or she just seems to know what’s going on and their confidence and ability to control the room has a calming effect. You want to ask THAT person your question, even if they aren’t a subject matter expert. This is what command skills look like in action. But as we continue to place higher value on leadership soft skills like empathy and compassion, we tend to get leaders who have a tougher time with command skills.
