With over 25 years of non-profit management and experience, Alan Smyth is the Executive Director of Saving Innocence. Saving Innocence is a non-profit organization that serves, empowers, and advocates for child victims of sex trafficking. Saving Innocence has helped over 2,000 victims of child sex trafficking. Alan Smyth recently served for 14 years as the Regional Director for Young Life in the Greater Los Region and before that he was an Area Director for Young Life in San Francisco Bay for 11 years. During his tenure, Alan was responsible to fundraise for and oversee an overall annual operating budget of 4 million dollars as he led a charge to expand work into South LA. His responsibilities included recruiting, hiring, training & supervising staff as well as volunteers. Additionally, Alan executed hundreds fundraising events, strategic planning activities and developed marketing strategies that proved successful for Young Life in Los Angeles. Most recently, Alan Smyth co-authored a book MEN! Fight For Me. This book is an authentically real conversation about the plight of Human Trafficking in America, specifically child sex trafficking. This book is a conversational approach from people with “Lived Experience.” MEN! Fight For Me is co-authored by Alan Smyth & Jessica Midkiff, plus a host of other experts, both survivors as well as professionals in the field.  In our conversation Alan shares tangible ways YOU can help decrease the demand for sex trafficking and exploitation. He also shares tools and strategies we as parents can use to help protect our own kids from this danger that is out there in every country, state, and city.
