Kaoru Watanabe was born and grew up in the US but after studying classical and jazz flute he got very interested in exploring his traditional Japanese culture. He has gone on to work with luminaries like Baryshnikov, Yo Yo Ma and many musicians all over the world. He was a member of Kodo, the leading Japanese Taiko ensemble in Japan and toured with them for 10 years.
