EP 13// Advice Column: ADHD Medication
from Sorry I'm Late: The ADHD Podcast · host Amy Neal
Let's get something straight--ADHD stimulant medication IS NOT m*thamphetamine, nor are they dangerous to take *if you have ADHD, and take them as prescribed.* In this episode of Sorry I'm Late, I share my advice and spit some facts about ADHD medications, specifically stimulants. I discuss the common phenomenon that many ADHD'ers experience after taking a stimulant medication for the first time in their life--rage and grief. It's not uncommon to experience grief after realizing your life has been so difficult and you didn't even know it; grief for the loss of the life you thought you would have, grief about the reality of your true mental and physical capacity. I discuss the stigma surrounding ADHD medication and why it's harmful.I also share my opinion about how stimulants can be used as another mask that society expects from ADHD'ers. Tune in to hear all my perspectives about ADHD medication.Disclaimer:And as always, please remember that at the time of publishing this episode, I’m only a mental health professional in training, and this podcast is designed to feel like I’m just your bestie giving you some solid advice.
