Come sapete si può pregare un santo particolare per avere un aiuto in un determinato campo. Ci sono delle persone venerate come santi ai quali la Chiesa cattolica affida la protezione di un certo gruppo di persone, ad esempio se avete problemi agli occhi potete pregare Santa Lucia che è la protettrice della vista.La protezione del santo è legata alla sua storia terrena o alle leggende legate alla sua vita, come la leggenda di Santa Lucia che racconta che un giovane si innamorò dei sui occhi bellissimi e lei se li strappò per regalarglieli, ma subito dopo, per miracolo, gli occhi ricomparvero sul viso di Lucia. Questa è, come vi dicevo una leggenda, probabilmente invece gli occhi sono il simbolo della luce e la luce è il simbolo dell’amore di Lucia per Cristo.Ci sono santi che proteggono delle categorie o dei mestieri specifici, come ad esempio San Floriano, protettore dei vigili del fuoco e di tutti i mestieri legati al fuoco e all’acqua perché Floriano, soldato romano e cristiano era stato condannato a morte al rogo, cioè doveva essere bruciato.
