Ep 131: You'll never run out of things to do, so put yourself on the list (if you want to)

from SelfKind: Conversations in self-care, kindness and compassion for highly sensitive people · host Erica

Yep, it's a long title. You'll never run out of things to do, so put yourself on the list (if you want to). That's what we're talking about today. Quite literally, if you're waiting til things are perfect or 'done' before you'll have the time or headspace to take care of yourself, guess how long you're going to be waiting? Forever. The kicker here, of course, is that underneath all that busy-ness (and it's real, I get it), you also have to ask yourself if you truly WANT that thing you say you want. Whether it be doing more yoga or starting a mindfulness habit or going for a walk - do you want it? AND are you willing to move away from your current reality to make that (potentially challenging) move toward what you want? We're diving into:> why you find it hard to change (spoiler alert: your human brain prizes efficiency and guess what's super efficient? NOT changing)> why taking responsibility requires a level of honesty that might be uncomfortable (remember: therapeutic relationships with professionals is a very real part of this process)> how you can think of your brain as an evidence-gathering-machine and every time you do a thing in pursuit of your own care, you stuff another bit of evidence in the file labelled 'self-kindness/self-care/self-love'Tune in to hear the full episode and come share your thoughts with me over on Instagram! You'll also find me over on my website and on Facebook.Have you signed up for the Simple Shifts to Mindful Movement Habits newsletter?
