EP 135: Gone to the Dogs with Heath Hyatt

from Hound PodCast: Double U Hunting Supply · host Heath Hyatt, Jason Duby, Fred Moran

Heath Hyatt is a popular guest in the world of hound-hunting podcasts. He’s pretty much made the rounds preaching the gospel of obedience training as an essential element to having a well-handling hound, regardless of the type of game pursued. His job as a master trainer of police dogs for several agencies throughout the State of Virginia and his long-standing reputation as a master hunter of black bears with hounds combine to make him an interesting listen and thus his many invitations to appear online.Steve Fielder and Hyatt have been friends and hunting companions since their hounds each appeared in the winner’s circle at the National Plott Hound Association’s annual Plott Days event in 1997. Hyatt was the overall winner with Fielder taking the Opposite Sex win for the Isaiah Kidd Award, the event’s highest prize. Through the following years the pair have hunted coons in several states and bears in the states of Virginia and West Virginia where Hyatt and Fielder were respectively born.In this episode, Fielder takes Hyatt down a different path than his normal podcast appearance routine as the two friends discuss the hounds and the hunts that have bound the friends together for twenty-five years. The conversation centers upon coon and bear hunting equally and is a good listen if you are an ardent fan of either sport.  In addition to our great conversation, we also had a brief intermission with Fred Moran, the Redbone Man to hear another one of his stories.  We would like to thank those who support this podcast.  Special thanks to Double U Hunting Supply for sponsoring this episode.  www.dusupply.comhttps://www.youtube.com/@DoubleUHuntingSupply/podcasts
