EP 136: Archery Elk Hunting after the SetUp to Release - Connecting the Dots(Part 3)

You hear over and over again about the major events or actions needed to successfully harvest an elk with archery equipment; how to get a response,... what a setup is,... knowing your effective range,... and then make a killing shot. Step 1, then 2, then 3 and finally four and BULL DOWN! If ONLY it happened that way! But what about all the variables leading to, or in between those steps? It's those "unknowns" not talked about from one step to the other that we are missing. Well, y'all... let's see if we can help with that! It's Part 3 of our next series: Archery Elk Hunting From Response to Release... Connecting the dots! The goal of this episode is to help you fill in some of those gaps and we begin by talking about things that happen from before you see the elk, to “there he is”. Just a few of the topics: How do I know if he is still coming? If I’m not sure what to do? Should I call to verify his location or stay silent?  If I do call, what calls should I use?  What if he doesn’t answer, should I move and go look for him? I still don’t see him but he sounds like he is moving to my downwind side… what do I do? He just busted out a bugle closing in, I haven’t seen him yet, but he’s way closer. Do I respond? I didn’t respond when he sounded closer, and he is still bugling but from the same location.  Do I go after him? Do I call now? If so, what call? I hear another hunter off to my right, calling into the situation. What should I do? Another hunter walked into my set-up… what do I do? We hope you enjoy the episode.
