Ep. 136: The Blackout Ripper

from The Tales We Tell · host Hannah Partsch

Happy (belated) Halloween! This week, Hannah and Katy break out the hard liquor to talk about one of history's more gruesome spree killers: The Blackout Ripper. During the London blackouts of 1942, a killer hid in plain sight and viciously attacked five women in six days. Gordon Cummins killed at least three women (although he is suspected of two more), and used the cover of the darkness to help conceal his crimes. Just an all around asshole, that you will love to hate. Don't worry, this episode has a satisfying ending. So pour your drinks (the girls chose whiskey) and cover your ears if you're underage. Thanks for the suggestion, and Happy Birthday, Dad! Also, be sure to check out Hillbilly Horror Stories' 5th Annual Halloween Special that came out a few weeks ago (featuring your favorite Hannah and Katy!): https://open.spotify.com/episode/3sluZVkybFBAQuy9q3nwjY?si=8A-EtoCYSJS3iwUttUvJcQSources: https://www.crimeandinvestigation.co.uk/article/the-blackout-ripper-a-serial-killer-in-wartime-londonhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gordon_Cumminshttps://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4167276/How-Blackout-Ripper-killed-horrifically.htmlhttps://www.britannica.com/event/the-Blitzhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blackout_(wartime)http://www.unsolved-murders.co.uk/murder-content.php?key=518&termRef=Edith%20Eleanora%20Humphrieshttps://blackpoolcrime.wordpress.com/2018/10/25/edith-oatley-anchorsholme-to-the-west-end-gordon-cummins-the-blackout-ripper/Support the showFollow us @thetaleswetellpodcast on Facebook and Instagram, or thetaleswetellpodcast.comSupport us on Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/join/thetaleswetellpodcast?Click here for merch!
