Ep 14: Laneway Talks with Vince & Rob

Vince and Rob discussed the intricacies of Spotify's algorithm and its potential impact on artists, as well as the broader implications of AI on the music and art industries. They also explored the allocation of government funding for the music industry, emphasizing the need for more significant support for Australian music creators. The conversation touched on the difficulties and possibilities facing the live music sector, including the need for more sustainable measures to ensure the viability of live music venues and festivals. Throughout the conversation, both speakers emphasized the importance of honesty, payment, and government support for local artists. Vincent and Rob decided to chat away one day about the music business in their territory and from that discussion came the idea to create a podcast about our knowledge base. Vincent from the business side of things and Rob from the education side. Vincent has a 35 year history in entertainment, and Rob has just completed his Phd in Music at the University of Adelaide.
